Hard Candy

I got a hold of the new Madonna album last week. Now, I’m not much of a Madonna fan, but after hearing 4 Minutes, I wanted to hear what the rest of her album was like. I was floored. I couldn’t believe I was listening to a Madonna album. It was different from anything I’ve heard from her before - dare I say, hip-hop influence. Pharrell’s (The Neptunes) distinctive musical stylings was obvious from the first to the last track, and that was definitely a refreshing take on Madonna. The album has a more R&B feel, a departure from her usual pop/dance genre - yet remnants of that still remain. But I think what really pushed me to gain a liking for the album, was when I heard Kanye West on one track. (I’m partial to anything Kanye West is involved in.) With a career spanning close to 30 years, Madonna continues to stay relevant and has finally earned a spot in my iTunes collection with this album. Congrats.

Songs worth a listen:

Miles Away

Beat Goes On (ft. Kanye West)

Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You

She’s Not Me

Incredible

Let’s hope this review doesn’t backfire on me.

(Hard Candy has also pushed my music collection past the 11,000 song mark. That’s over 29 days (700+ hours) of listening pleasure. I need a bigger iPod!)
